Sunday Coolspot-1

It's Sunday! The beginning of a new week. How did your last week go? Did you smash those goals or...(LOL). What's in for this week? Anyway, I have some cool gist for you this evening.Relax, get a cup of this sweet juice. You'll need to sip it while reading through (smiles).  Top of the gist is one that's been trending for a while now. The one that's got to do with a guy in a foreign land whose clothes we're about to auction. Yes we're opening flea market (okrika) with his properties (LOL).  If you need me to spell the gist out to you, I will. I'm talking about the leader of the recent cybercrimes and fraud. He's popular. A celebrity infact! The first letter of his nickname is the eighth letter of the English alphabet (you didn't hear it from me).  According to the police, he has defrauded almost 2million people. The amount of money he has fraudulently acquired is in billi-billi (billions). I can't say how he did it because that gist is too h...

Morning Motivation- Tuesday

I learnt a key lesson on dedication and diligence from the sun. I'll be kind to share today. I doubt that there is anyone who is as dedicated as the sun. If it were to be given awards, it'd collect several. When it's turn comes to shine, it shines. It doesn't go about whining and complaining about how that it shone all week, it just shines.  Sometimes, we need to suck all the excuses in and just get on with our jobs. Do what you do and do it well. Good morning! . . . . #motivational #motivation #success

Morning Motivation- Monday

It's Monday! Do I hear a "Yayyyy!!!" or "Nayyyy!!"? Well, I have a story for you today. I hope you read it.  The Story: O ne windy day, the egg of an eagle rolled down a cliff. A farmer who was passing by saw it and picked it. He took it home and kept it alongside his other turkey eggs. One by one the eggs all hatched. The eagle looked different from the others but he didn't mind. He flocked with them. He dined with them. One day, he saw a convocation (that's what a group of eagles is called) of eagles fly past. He signalled the other turkeys, wanting them to watch the eagles. Later at dinner table, he asked his siblings (the turkeys) why they all couldn't fly like the birds that they saw earlier on. The eldest of them answered and said: "We can't fly that high and for that long because those birds are eagles and we are turkeys." The lone eagle, accepted his fate and though he yearned to soar, he never did. He died not knowing his capab...

World Sickle Cell Day

MY STORY It's not so easy living with my condition. Its almost like I was given a sentence before I even had the chance to live. Everyday is scary. I do not know if I'm going to have a crisis or not.  The crises are really painful but most of the pain I feel comes from my mind. I feel pain when I see the faces of the ones I love. They smile at me and act like all is fine around me but I know deep down that it hurts them to see me go through this. I found out about my status when I was twelve. On the morning of that fateful day, I broke down in class. Just after our morning assembly. It wasn't the first time but this was more painful than any other before it. I had to be rushed to the hospital.  When mum came, I demanded to know what was wrong with me. I needed an answer. I needed to know the reason I was treated as a special student in school, like fragile glass.  I needed to know why I had a lunchbox filled  with drugs, why I was always falling ill and why Aunty May...

Funny Memories-1

This is a column containing funny memories. Things that happened in the past that make you laugh each time you remember them. How many funny memories do you have? How funny are they? Feel free to share your funny memories in the comment section. Here's one of my fun memories: I was barely three years old and my immediate younger sister was almost one year old. Her birthday was a few days away—Christmas day. Mother's birthday comes immediately after hers, the next day which is boxing day. PS: I have this memory etched in my brain but I do not know how. I remember every detail. Maybe it's because it's funny . Days to mom's birthday, she got a beautiful birthday cake. This cake was well decorated and looked appealing to us kids. It was a white cake with a red ribbon around it. It had small sugary details (crunchy drops of yellow icing round it) that one could pick off and lick— which child doesn't like sugar? At the time, I just couldn't imagine why mum didn...

Morning Motivation Post– Monday

Happy Monday to you there! Welcome to our Morning Motivation post. The weekend is over and a fresh and clean Monday is here.  Been wondering how to start your week? How to stay motivated, especially today? If I may ask,  how do you see Mondays?  Are you all motivated and ready to work or do you find yourself lacking in sufficient energy to run the day? Sometimes we wish that Sunday should have 30 hours instead of 24, just so we can delay Monday from coming.   You are not alone. It has been proven by majority that Mondays tend to bring on a gloomy feeling as people feel distressed because they remember that they have to go to work, they have to get to school, they have to complete unfinished tasks from the previous week, deadlines to meet, the list is endless. The trick to combat this is filling your mental container with some fresh inspiration— positive thoughts! For example, thoughts that something great and beautiful is going to happen today. Do you kno...
